Park by apartment

Making friends

Tired & ready for home

It has been a long day with lots of walking. Probably walked more today than any other. Rode the metro to a bus stop but bus never showed up so we chose to walk to our destination.

At the park

Ellie found a cool spot. We were at the park in a labyrinth. Diana and I walked the path but Ellie and Alexis chose a quicker route.

Animal catacombs!

Yikes! Paleontology Museum!!

Wasn't sure what we were in for when we visited this museum (Plant of the Apes?).  It was animal skeletons. So many skeletons from bats to whales and lots in between.

Most of the museums have been very warm. There isn't a lot of air conditioning here so it helps when there is good airflow. Most of the museums do not have windows that can be opened. We wondered how the paintings and other artwork hold up under the heat. Touring the museums and other indoor spaces is done quickly.

Added small diamonds

On previous trip over I painted large diamonds. This trip I finished up with smaller ones.

Lost a tooth

Ellie was eating chewy bread this evening and it pulled her tooth out. Wonder if the French tooth fairy leaves Euros?

Ellie dessert

We had lunch at the museum cafe and Ellie took a picture of her dessert. Good job, Ellie!

Water taxi

Crowd below

You can see the little ant people in line for the elevator. Today we had to wait in a lot of lines. One good thing was we took the bus from the apartment and back home. I think I'm getting more comfortable with the bus but the metro is faster.

Down easier than up

Grandma Diana and I took the elevator to second floor of Eiffel and Ellie and Alexis walked. Grandmas were in line for about an hour and the girls were only in line for 10 minutes. The top section of tower was closed so we all walked down (1000 steps).  Better than waiting in line again. Ellie said her legs were shaking when we got to the bottom. I think all our legs were shaking!

Guess where?

Posing at the Louvre

I went to the Louvre today, so I thought I should say hooray! (Ellie is posting these words for me.) And we are at our apartment eating macaroons, yay, yay.

Yes, I'm eating this

That's my girl! I sometimes cannot believe the things she will try and usually likes.

Do I want to eat that?

If you remember my first post before leaving US, I mentioned Ellie said she was not eating snails. Well, she changed her mind!

Placing lock

Ellie brought a lock from the US to add to the bridge. We heard one section of the railing collapsed because of the weight. No evidence of collapse when we arrived. The railings on both sides of the bridge were covered as shown.

Shopping in Paris

We decided to do a little grocery shopping this afternoon.  Ellie was in charge of the shopping cart.

We are here

Flight was great but long. Ellie slept almost the whole trip. Arrived in Paris at 6:45 am and had to hang out at the airport for an hour to give renters time to checkout. Really didn't need to stay at airport because traffic was terrible and took us over an hour to get to apartment. We dropped bags off at apartment and left again so maid could clean. Walked around and did a little sightseeing, had lunch and now have our feet up resting. I'm sure we will hit the sheets early.

Return to Paris

I will be returning to Paris next week and this time my granddaughter, her mother, and other grandmother will be joining me.  It will be so much fun seeing Paris through my granddaughter's eyes.  She wants to eat croissants and see the Eiffel Tower. We have read a book to her over the years entitled "Katie Meets the Impressionists", so we will also be meeting the Impressionists! My granddaughter is a foodie.  She is not afraid of trying new things but has made it known she will not eat snails.
